Hopefully an Excellent Summer has been had by all. Thoughts now turn to the nights drawing in and the weather turning Autumnal - but also to getting together and having an enjoyable time singing.
Our next concert is on 24th October. we began looking at the music before the Summer break - but we now have only a few weeks to sort out the difficult corners and bring the music to life.
The Mozart Requiem seems a long time ago now. It was a lovely evening, with soloists and orchestra coming together with the choir to make music - and a full church of appreciative listeners to enjoy the occasion. We are all accustomed to having the most fantastic recordings at our fingertips all the time, but there is no substitute for live music. Is it something about the personal focus and concentration on the moment? Is it that you can't turn the volume up or down at will, or put the performance on pause? Is it being together with other people? I don't know, and will leave it to cleverer heads than mine to think about, while I just remember a lovely evening.
